    WRITING

    (a)  Yoga can be good to stay physically and mentally healthy. Do you practise any yoga? Write an essay on the benefits of yoga.

    Yoga is an ancient form of practice that developed thousands of years ago in Hindu society.

    It has been practiced continuously since then.

    It includes a variety of exercises to help a person stay healthy.

    Yoga helps to get rid of various types of diseases and disabilities.

    It is also considered a strong method for meditating which helps to relax the mind and body.

    Yoga is being practiced all over the world.

    According to a survey, around 2 billion people in the world practice yoga.

     

    I practice a few Yogas; they are:

    Anulom-vilom

    Kapal-bharti

    Adho Mukha Svan-asana (downward dog pose)

    Bal-asana (child pose)

    Sukh-asana (easy pose)

    Utkat-asana (chair pose)

    Vrks-asana (tree pose)

     

    An Essay on the Benefits of Yoga

     

    Preface

    Yoga helps in controlling the body, mind and soul.

    It creates a balance of physical and mental discipline to calm the body and mind.

    It also helps to manage stress and anxiety and helps us stay relaxed.

    Yoga asana is known for developing strength, flexibility in the body and confidence.

     

    Benefits of yoga

    Nowadays, stress is a common practice, which has a shocking effect on the body and mind.

    The main benefit of practicing yoga is that it helps in reducing stress.

    Stress causes people to have severe problems such as pain while sleeping, neck pain, backache, headache, rapid heartbeat, palms sweating, unhappiness, anger, sleeplessness and inability to concentrate.

    Yoga focuses on our natural tendency towards health and self-healing.

    Yoga bases on exercises, meditation, breathing exercises and yoga aasans which strengthen various muscles and reduces stress.

    It helps to avoid drugs, which are harmful to our mental and physical health.

    Regular practice of yoga creates mental clarity and calmness which relaxes the mind.

     

    There are lots of benefits of different yoga; some benefits are:

    Improve muscle flexibility

    Heals body postures and alignment

    Provides better digestive system

    Strengthens internal organs

    Treats asthma

    Cures diabetes

    Helps to cure heart problems

    Helps skin glow

    Promotes strength and endurance

    Improve concentration

    Helps control the mind and thoughts

    Keeps the mind calm to overcome anxiety, stress and depression

    Help to reduce stress

    Helps in blood circulation and muscle relaxation

    Weight loss

    Protects from injury etc.

     

    The conclusion

    Yoga is a very useful practice that is very easy to do and it also helps to get rid of some serious health problems, which are common in today’s lifestyles.

     

    (b) How can a person be mentally healthy? Provide about ten tips to a person to stay mentally fresh and healthy.

     

    To be healthy, it is very important to have a healthy mind.

    If we are mentally fit, we can easily solve the problems of life.

     

    Nowadays, it is common to be stressed in a runaway lifestyle.

    In such a situation, keeping oneself mentally fit is also a challenge.

    We can face problems in life only due to our healthy minds.

    Apart from this, a healthy mind is also needed to reach the stage of progress.

    Now, the question comes what should be done to keep the mind fit.

    There are many ways to keep the mind healthy; out of them some tips are as follow:

     

    Keep learning new

    To keep the mind healthy, try to keep learning something new.

    Manage time learn new from daily routine work.

    New learning will also give fun and a chance to learn more.

     

    Take care of the body

    Your body is the most important for you.

    A healthy mind resides in a healthy body.

    To have a healthy body, you should take care of your health.

    For this, eat healthy food, drink plenty of water, do exercise, get 6-8 hours sleep, avoid smoking and alcohol.   

     

    Spend time with positive people

    Spend more time with positive-minded people.

    Take part in social activities.

    Try to treat people well and think well.

     

    Help others

    Everyone should try to help others when needed.

    Putting your energy into helping others; it will give you a lot of happiness.

    Being happy is helpful in keeping your mind healthy.

     

    Keep stress away

    In today’s time, there is lots of tension in everyone’s life.

    Tension makes physically and mentally ill.

    In such a situation, we should remove stress.

    Manage time to get rid of stress.

    For this, we should regularly exercise, play and walk in our daily routine.

     

    Keep calm

    Do meditation and yoga to keep calm in life.

    It keeps you mentally calm and increases concentration.

    Staying calm keeps your mind healthy.

    Because of this, you can face problems in your life.

     

    Set goals

    Set goals for what you want to do in your life.

    Make sure what you need to reach your goal.

    Adopt a practical approach to reach your goal.  

     

    Seek help when needed

    We have to face problems in our life many times, for this we sometimes need help.

    We should seek help without any hesitation.

    This reduces our anxiety and keeps us mentally healthy.

     

    Believe in yourself

    We are all different and we all have our strengths and weaknesses.

    Set realistic goals.

    Try to assess your own boundaries and draw boundaries accordingly.

    Choose your faculty, work or business according to strengths and weaknesses.

     

    Count your blessings

    It may be foolishness, but it is true that you are grateful for what you have.

    There are lots of people who do not have those; which you have. 

    It can divert attention from what you do not have.

    Be optimistic about your future and enhances your mental health.

     

    Avoid loan and credit card

    The scarcity of money is the most important problem.

    Prices of goods and services are hiking day by day.

    90% people of in the world are facing financial problems.

    To be happy, avoid loans and credit cards because they always trouble you.

    GRAMMAR

    Concord/subject-verb agreement

    Subject-verb agreement is the correspondence of a verb with its subject in person (first, second, or third) and number (singular or plural).

     

    (A) Read this text and notice the subject-verb agreement.

    The human body is like a machine. All machines need fuel to give them energy. The fuel for the human body is food. Most of the energy comes from two substances in our food: carbohydrates and fats. Carbohydrates are found in food like potatoes, bread, rice, wheat, corn, etc. and sugar. Fats come from food like meat, oil, cheese and butter. All junk food contains lots of carbohydrates and 60 English: Grade 11 fats. If you eat a lot of junk food, you will probably get fat and it may cause a lot of diseases.
