Main causes of disagreement between pass book and cash book

There are many reasons for disagreement between bank reconciliation statement and cash book.

Out of them, main reasons are given below:

Cheques issued but not presented for payment.

Cheques deposited but not collected.

Bank charge is not entered in the cash book.

Interest on overdraft not recorded in the cash book.

Interest credited (income collected) by bank but not entered in the cash book.

Amount directly deposited into bank by debtors.

Dividend is collected by bank but not recorded in the cash book.

Insurance premium paid by bank but not recorded in the cash book.

Dishonoured cheques and bills debited in the bank statement but yet not entered in the cash book.

Mistakes made either by bank or firm etc.
