What are the features of BRS?

The main features of bank reconciliation statement (BRS) are given below:

BRS is just a statement not an account.

It is not a part of double entry book keeping system.

It is prepared for a particular day, not for accounting period.

It can be prepared at regular intervals, like every month, three month, six month etc according to the requirement of the company.

It is prepared by a person or organization that has an account with a bank; bank does not prepare it.

It explains the causes of disagreement between bank statement and cash book.
