The main duties of storekeeper are:

To prepare purchase requisition note when materials reaches to re-order level.

To received purchased materials from receiving department.

To enter the details of materials in the bin card.

To store materials in their proper place for easy identification.

To issue the materials to production department on the basis of ‘material requisition note’.

To take back the surplus materials returned by production department.

To verify stock of materials.

To report on scrap, waste, surplus, obsolete materials to management for taking necessary action.

To install equipment in the storeroom for easy handling of material.

To prevent unauthorized persons to enter into the storeroom.

Responsibilities of Storekeeper

The main responsibilities of storekeeper are:

The storekeeper is responsible for the material, which he receives; therefore, at the time of materials receiving must verify the quantity, quality and the condition of materials.

He is responsible for the issue of material in time; therefore, he has to classify and codify and store materials at suitable place.

He is responsible for shortage of materials due to theft, damage and spoilage.

His responsibility is to work in close co-ordination with other departments of the factory.

He is responsible for his negligence as well as his subordinate duties.
