    CRITICAL THINKING

    (a)  What do you do to keep yourself fit? What food do you avoid and why?

Every person should keep in mind that ‘health is wealth’.

Everyone desires to live a healthy life.

But he/she hardly do any efforts to make a healthy life.

It is due to the busy timetable for job and business.

In my part, I believe in ‘there is a will there is a way.’

I follow healthy habits to be physically and mentally fit.

I walk around two kilometers during the day and I play badminton on holiday.

Early to bed and early to rise have also played a vital role in my sound health.

I eat healthy foods that include nutrition, fiber, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants; my body requires them.

Generally, I avoid junk foods and cold drinks.

If there is no other option, I eat little junk foods.

Junk foods contain fats, sugar, white flour and Ajinomoto.

Junk foods are tasty but they harm our digestion system.

More consumption of junk food increases obesity, heart diseases and blood pressure.

    b. Healthy citizens are the greatest asset of a country. What can a state do to keep her citizen healthy?

Healthy citizens make a healthy nation.

The healthy citizens of a country are important for the progress of a country.

The government has the responsibility for public hospitals, ambulance services, public dental care, community health services and mental health care.

If the citizens of a country are unhealthy, weak and poor, the government has to invest a large budget in the health programme.

In such a condition, the government cannot invest her budget for capital investment; and country cannot progress.

On the other hand, a country can progress when the citizens are healthy, young, financially capable, educated, skilled, physically fit and mental well-being.

Therefore, healthy citizens are the greatest asset of a country.

A state can do the following to keep her citizen healthy:

The state should provide quality and nutritious food for its citizens.

Adequate local public health infrastructures should be assured.

Healthy communities and healthy behaviors should be promoted.

It is necessary to the prevention of the spread of communicable diseases.

People should be protected against environmental health hazards.

There should be the provision of easy health services.

Health centers and hospitals should be established in remote parts of the country.

Either state should provide free health-related services or at minimum cost.
